You may remember a few weeks ago when we wrote about one of our favorite young companies, The Old Try. Well, today, we are pleased to announce our first collaborative effort with Micah and Marianna: The Bow Try #1. A few months ago we began talking about the concept of a collaborative tie. Neither of us had any idea what direction that meant we should head in, just that it was something that sounded like a good idea and should be explored further. From our initial conversation our plans grew steadily. We ordered many sample fabrics and considered a number of color schemes for our tie "magnum opus." After painstakingly considering hundreds of choices, we narrowed our search. Then, we narrowed it yet again. Eventually we were at a phase where we needed to touch the fabrics, so we ordered samples and had them shipped to Annapolis and Boston, our respective cities. Eventually Micah and Marianna made the call to pull the trigger on a fantastic utilitarian cotton twill with navy ticking. We weren't finished quite yet however. Micah wanted this tie to be special. He and Ryan out-voted me and we decided collectively that it would be a diamond point bow. Following that decision, we made a further decision to narrow the bow's profile to compensate for the wider look that diamond point bows offer. Rarely am I so happy to have lost an agreement after the fact. As you can see, the bows turned out great and we're all extremely pleased with the final results. If you're interested, head on over to The Old Try's website and grab a bow, they're going fast. In a limited run, over 50% was sold on the day of release.
